Happy Anniversary Baby Blog!

One year ago today I started our baby blog; writing through the morning sickness, the stretching skin, the emotions and excitement as we embarked on the journey to becoming parents!

One year ago today I had my first post; We're pregnant!

weeks 6, 10, 13, 15

weeks 15, 16, 18, 20

weeks 22, 23, 24, 25

weeks 26, 29, 31, 35

weeks 38, 39, 40, 42

 A total of 48lbs gained, going from a 26" to a 43" belly at 9 days overdue, a 42 hour labor resulting in a c-section, I can honestly say it was well worth it!!

 More than words can say, I mean look at him. ;)

Here we are, 190 posts, 42(+) week by week pregnancy pics and 1 beautiful baby boy, later!
One year, wow. I truly can't believe how much has happened in the past year.

We are so thankful for the past year and especially our lil Chase Journey.
Stay tuned in the next years, as my belly is sure to grow again with many more lil Jami or Ted Davis'!
(Yeah, that's write birth story, I'm still stickin' to having more babies!)

9 Things I Love About being a momma

(9-9-09 gave me a reason to blog)

::01:: Celebrating the small successes and sharing each one with people! I find joy in the little things, but didn't always share that joy and now I have a reason to always share Chase's little successes! Smiling, making bubbles, rolling onto his side, holding his head up, recognizing a toy or face, etc.

::02:: It teaches me to be selfless. A daily lesson. Sometimes an every minute lesson. Getting up earlier than I would normally, sacrificing the raspberry white mocha because it upsets his tummy, taking care of his needs before even thinking about a shower, etc. So good!

Adios!

::03:: I love that being a mom requires me to be an adult and a child simultaneously. I am allowed to be silly to make my sweet boy laugh, talk in a high pitched voice to coax that smile out, dance like a crazy, soon - play pretend, and someday he will paint and colour with me... but I also must be an adult and immediately responsive to his needs.

::04:: I love the look on his face and in his eyes when I capture his attention and he recognizes "it's my mommy!" But I also love look he gets when he is crying and he knows I am there and about to hold him in my arms.... oh my w o r d! Melts my heart.

::05:: It teaches me to be patient!

::06:: Being a mother has challenged me more than I've ever been challenged before. In integrity, in humility, in my walk with God and in my marriage because one day and sooner than I can imagine, he will begin to watch mommy's every move. So, I've been challenged with what I am doing with my life! Hard but good!

::07:: Watching Ted be a daddy! Words cannot describe!

::08:: Chase's life has already strengthened the ties with the people who love us.

::09:: It gives me a deeper understanding of love. Whoa. How to even put this into words?! I really can't.

What I've loved & What I am looking forward to.

What I've loved about pregnancy:

• The moment when Ted and I saw the positive pregnancy test.
• Knowing that I am carrying and taking care of someone so precious. A human being!
• Watching in amazement, our first ultrasound of our 10 week old baby squirming around.
• Watching my belly grow with each new week.
• The first time I felt the baby's movements at 13 weeks. No words could describe.
• Feeling my baby growing and his/her movements from within.
• Watching my stomach as he/she moved around.
• Watching my belly bounce up and down as he/she hiccuped.
• Spending a few minutes right before bed talking, singing and praying for our baby.
• Watching Ted kiss my belly and speak to the baby.
• Watching the baby respond to Ted's voice!
• Feeling the baby move when he/she heard me speak for the first time that morning.
• Preparing for our baby!
• The anticipation of not knowing when he/she will arrive and for me, not knowing the sex!
• How this has brought Ted and I even closer.

I will miss most of the above, so I've heard!

What I am looking forward to (with Baby):

• Holding my baby for the first time and many times after that.
• Snuggles with him/her.
• Singing to him/her face to face!
• Knowing if it's a him or a her!!
• Introducing our baby to the world.
• Watching as he/she grows.
• Documenting every little thing (you know me...)
• Baby's "first..." everything.
• Watching his/her personality develop.
• Watching him/her look more like mommy or daddy.
• Lying in bed with baby in between us.
• Spending time together as a family going for walks, picnics, outings...
• Introducing our baby to different cultures.

It's hard to narrow these down. Many more to come after the baby arrives, I'm sure!

What I am looking forward to personally:

• Sleeping on my tummy.
• Getting my figure back.
• Going for runs/walks with baby in the jogger.
• Having a bit of caffeine here and there. Dr. Pepper, ahhh.
• Eating sushi.
• Doing the early morning stretch without getting a charlie horse!
• Not having people stare at me like I am a traveling circus wherever I go.
• Seeing my bones again. Not having balloon hands, feet and face.
• Wearing my converse for the first time since March.
• Fitting back into the clothes that I now love so much. It's like Christmas!
• Being able to do things on my own again- the simplest things I need help with right now.

I could probably right a lot more in each category but this would be a novel! I wanted to write a blog like this before baby came and since baby is deciding to camp out a bit longer, why not write today?
