Much to Be Thankful For.

We celebrated Chase's first Thanksgiving with my side of the fam,
plus his Godfather and Godmother.

About to leave for a little outing to the neighborhood park.
Notice anything wrong with this picture?

He is sockless! We noticed after my sister took this picture.
 Thankfully before we left :)

Chases LOVES to swing.

He was laughing in this shot.

He fell asleep in Nana's arms.

Uncle Darren (our friend and his Godfather).

Walking back to Nana and Papa's house.

Auntie Chey (Godmother & friend) and Chase.

We're so thankful for you lil buddy!!

Project C.

I used an old roxy t-shirt of mine. Cut out a C. Sewed it on by hand.
Next time I'll pick something a little more masculine. It doesn't look too, too girly but just not boyish enough. Thankfully, it didn't take me long at all. :)

Jami's You Know Your A Momma When... (#3)

  • You have even more respect for your mother.
  • Your day is scheduled around your baby and no longer around you.
  • Somedays you spend more time interacting with your baby than with adults.
  • You have to rev your vacuum on slowly so not to scare your little man.
  • You're reflexes are as quick as can be when you see his lil "wee wee" act like it's gonna shower everything.
  • "Lub you", "binkie", "poo", "stinky", "blankie", "dada" etc are among your most common used vocabulary words lately.
  • It's hard each time he outgrows your favourite outfit for him.
  • You have a dance party by yourself just to make your little man giggle.
  • You think being a momma is the best and most rewarding job you've ever had.
  • 1/3 of your day is spent b'feeding or changing diapers.
  • You go out on a date or a girl's night and grab the diaper bag instead of your purse.
  • He falls asleep and you spend his entire nap time debating whether you should nap or clean... and before you know it, he wakes up.
  • You desire for him to know he is secure and loved.
  • You see the importance of the saying, "Family first".
  • You now look forward to the naptime you once dreaded as a child (for yourself).
  • You can recite Goodnight Moon by heart.
  • You think each new milestone is bittersweet.
  • You see other mom's out running and errands and make it a point to smile at them.
  • He is b'feeding and you can't really do much, you do silly blog posts like this one. :)

He Knows...

his name & that he is {loved}

My favorite smile caught on camera. This picture speaks a thousand words to me.

All I said was "Chase" and I was given this beautiful smile.
{Melts my heart}

Today I worked on two simple and super fun projects for Chase.
Here is a hint.

Project one.

Project two.
More to come.

Have a blessed weekend!

Well-Baby Check up.

Chase is 4 months old today.
Whoa.

Chase is healthy as can be. Since his last check up (blogged here), he has gained 4oz putting him at 15 lbs 15 oz. He has slowed down in the weight gain and my little arms are ever so grateful. However, he is looong. 28 3/4 inches in fact, which dwarfs me. When I see my friend, who is my height (5'1), I cannot believe just how long he is. He makes me look even shorter than I am, if that's possible :) And, just in case you're super-duper curious; his head is measuring 17 inches. Also, f you haven't already noticed, he has his daddy's ears :) I think they are already as big as mine. Teheheee.

There was something different about this appointment... ah yes, the opinionated intern. She made my day. They had her do the well-baby check up. That part I didn't mind, it was her opinions about how I raise my baby that bothered me. First, she asked me a list of questions, one of my answers sparked a lecture from her.

Intern: "When you go to get him from his crib in the morning, has he rolled onto his tummy?"
Me: "He sleeps beside our bed for most of the night and then when he wakes to eat at 4-4:30 am he comes to bed with me."
Intern: "You know that is a bad idea, don't you?"
Ted: "What? Sleeping on his back?"
Intern: "No. Sleeping him sleeping in your bed."
Me: "I've heard the arguments but it is what we prefer."
Intern: (The gist) "...at this age he should learn that he can soothe himself and that he doesn't need you to comfort him all of the time...let him cry it out... besides, you won't want him in your bed as 6 years old...." ect.

What?! Isn't that apart of being a momma? Comforting your child who is 4 months old and does not know how to manipulate and is crying for a reason. Teaching him from early on that this is a safe and secure environment.

I disagreed with almost everything she went on to say, but kept silent. Part of me wanted to tell her the benefits of him sleeping beside or in our bed, but I believe that each parent is different in personality and each child as well and you can't state that as fact. You shouldn't tell someone that the way you parent is the way they should, because every child is different, every parent is different. You can share ideas, but you really cannot state it as fact: "this is what works for everyone." What may work for us, may not work for you and visa versa.

I've read both extremes; Attachment Parenting by Dr. Sears and Baby Wise by Dr. Robert Bucknam. We lean more towards Attachment Parenting. I do like some things in Baby Wise but we prefer the AP. And naturally, on our own, so far the things we have implemented into our lives as parents work for us; we have a healthy, happy and super content baby that knows he is loved.

I express the way we do things on my blog because ...it's my blog. I hope that I never make it seem like the way we do things is the end all. The say. It's not! It's simply what works for us and what we personally desire!

Okay, enough of that. How about some cute videos?

Rolling over and over and over til he was tired. SO cute!

Playin' at the Murphy's house!

Chillin' with buddy Ivan.

Grabbing at mommy's icecream bowl.

Representing for our (my side) family's fav team.

Of course there are a few pictures missing here from his weekend.
What you do not see are photos of our sleepless friday and saturday night.
Teething kicks our buts at night time.
We're hoping for a good night tonight!

Flannel Friday.

Because everyone at the YWAM is doing it, Chase joined in too.
Not really, I just found this top too irresistible.

Flannel Friday!

Side note: Crazy how much editing takes away from the real photo sometimes. The photos above actually turned out really dark and I had to edit them to make them light.
However, this photo turned out great!

He loves to stand.

Happy flannel friday!
Wait til you see our Christmas photo! Hehe.

Happy Anniversary Baby Blog!

One year ago today I started our baby blog; writing through the morning sickness, the stretching skin, the emotions and excitement as we embarked on the journey to becoming parents!

One year ago today I had my first post; We're pregnant!

Let's reminisce!

weeks 6, 10, 13, 15

weeks 15, 16, 18, 20

weeks 22, 23, 24, 25

weeks 26, 29, 31, 35

weeks 38, 39, 40, 42

A total of 48lbs gained, going from a 26" to a 43" belly at 9 days overdue, a 42 hour labor resulting in a c-section, I can honestly say it was well worth it!!
More than words can say, I mean look at him. ;)

Here we are, 190 posts, 42(+) week by week pregnancy pics and 1 beautiful baby boy, later!
One year, wow. I truly can't believe how much has happened in the past year.

We are so thankful for the past year and especially our lil Chase Journey.
Stay tuned in the next years, as my belly is sure to grow again with many more lil Jami or Ted Davis'!
(Yeah, that's write birth story, I'm still stickin' to having more babies!)

This Lil Piggy ...

...is YUMMY!

Chase loves his feet and prefers it in his mouth, but hasn't quite figured that part out yet.

This is what happens when we put him in his bumbo now.

He settled on his hand instead :)

Even Though We're Ninjas...

Today, teething kicked our butt.
(and last night and the night before)

Chase's teething comes with gnawing, chewing, extra cuddling, crying
 and screaming and

Wanting to be in mommy's arms
 (sorry dad!)

Rosy red cheeks from the slight fever.

These lil guys are lifesavers...

Snuggly teething elephant.

He loves the cold teething toys the best.

That's right babe, we're hoping for peace.
And soon, for his sake.
Poor buddy!

If you are a new mom, pregnant or may become pregnant, don't worry because I've read/heard that not every baby reacts to teething the way Chase does! There is hope! (Haha, this sounds like a commercial.)
